The Prisons
I have the privilege of going into to three different prisons on a weekly basis. These prisons are all across the Rio Grande Valley. When I go in, I get to be a part of seeing God change the men's lives!
The Ministry
I teach classes at the prisons on a weekly basis. I also hold two church services every month, one in English and one in Spanish.
One of the classes I teach is part of a Christ based recovery program designed to help people with substance abuse and other life damaging issues. Another class (Growing in Christ) is more discipleship oriented.
Positive developments
In the 11 years that I've been going into the prisons I've had the privilege of seeing hundreds and hundreds of men make a decision to begin to live their lives for the Lord. I've been blessed with seeing men grow in their faith in Christ. In one of the prisons that had a reputation for a lot of fighting and disturbances there has been a dramatic shift since the implementation of faith based dorms. Additionally faith based classes are now available for all the inmates. Now this prison is considered a model unit by the state of Texas!
